FBA Amazon Sellers Update – Amazon Is Donating Your Goods

If you sell on Amazon and you haven’t updated your settings, you’re already playing by new defaults.
Here’s what’s happening:
1. Liquidations is now automatic.
If you haven’t set up automation for fulfillable or unfulfillable inventory, Amazon enrolled you by default. You can opt out, but only after you’re in.
2. Donations are mandatory.
If your products qualify, Amazon will donate them. No exceptions. Even if you opted out before, you’re back in.
Why this matters:
Amazon wants cleaner warehouses and better PR around sustainability. Sellers get stuck with the bill if they don’t adapt.
The upside is you can recover some cash from dead inventory through Liquidations, and donations keep products out of landfills.
But here’s the catch: Amazon changed the defaults. Ignore this and you risk cash flow surprises, forced liquidations, and shrinking margins.
What you should do today:
• Review your FBA automation settings
• Audit slow-moving SKUs
• Adjust reorders to avoid excess stock
• Re-forecast cash flow with these defaults in mind
